A’Ibom South Assembly charges family of departed guber aspirant

The people of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District have again been urged to remain resolute in the pursuit of justice, equity and fairplay in the forthcoming Governorship election in the State.

The Chairman, Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District  Assembly, Chief Ndueso Essien, gave the charge Thursday in Oron when he led other executive members of the body on a condolence visit to the bereaved family of the late politician prominent politician in Oro Nation’ Late Chief Antigha Eyo Bassey.
While acknowledging the contribution of the late Antigha to the growth and development of the state, Chief Essien advised the bereaved family and the people of oro nation to be consoled by the fact that the departed dedicated his lifetime for public service.

While praying for the peaceful repose of the late politician, the former Minister charged the family to follow in the footsteps of their brother, as that was the best way to remember what he stood for, while alive.
Chief Essien recalled that the departed politician was in the forefront of the struggle for power shift to Eket senatorial district, saying ‘he was One of the few governorship aspirants that openly associated with the struggle by the people of Akwa Ibom south senatorial district not ‘ because he was an aspirant, but because he stood for justice and equity. 

The remains of the late Late Chief Antigha Eyo Bassey will be laid to laid to rest tomorrow Saturday in his hometown, Eyowesong in Oron Local Governmment Area, the people of Oron Federal constituency and the entire Akwa Ibom South Senatorial district Assembly have been urged to remain steadfast in their aspiration for the governorship seat in the state come 2015.
Also speaking, a prominent son of Oron Federal Constituency and deputy Chairman of the Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District Assembly, Engr. Etim Uyeh described the deceased as an illustrious son of Oro nation and urged his family to be consoled in the legacies that he stood for.

Amb Uyeh maintained that the people of the federal constituency were sad that the late astute journalist left when his services were most needed and promised the support of the people of Oro nation to the successful burial of the late politician.

  In his response, a brother of the deceased Barr Edet Eyo Bassey said his late brother abandoned his course as a medical doctor to embrace journalism because of his astute love for public service.
He promised that the family which was greatly inspired by the footprints of their late father who served in the then Eastern Assembly in the first republic, was not ready to let the flag fall
