After the two weeks long training and friendly banters amongst the Akwa Ibom Entertainers and Media football teams for the annual E101 Celebrity Showdown on the 27th of September 2013. The game which saw a lineup of players from both teams which included Mista Xto, Moses Arnstrong, Iniobong Monday, Moses Eskor DGN, Pasto Goody Goody, Sir James, GodFada, Nsibiet John, Pastor Idy James, Essien Ndueso amongst others.
The match was a tough one which saw both team play a 1-1 draw at regulation time. After the 30 minutes extra time, they finally went to settle it out in a penalty shoot out which ended in favour of the entertainment stars. The Team Entertainers finally took home the cup, winning it back to back two straight times plus a .5million naira cash prize, all sponsored by Nigeria’s biggest Asset Financing firm Amaecom Global Resources Ltd whose ‘Buy Now Pay Later Phrase’ has endeared it to millions across Africa.
The game which was played at the Uyo sports ground and had in attendance guest who include the Hon. Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, Pastor Ita Umo Udo who took the Kick-Off. Others are Mr Itoro Okon, CEO Fresh Care Cleaning Systems who sponsored the cash price of twenty thousand naira for the Most Valuable Player-MVP and Dr Marcel Ofomata, MD Amaecom who later hosted both hosted both teams to a sumptuous dinner party at the company’s headquarters in Uyo.
The Entertainment stars have wowed to clinch the cup for a third time, come 2014 when the next game will be played asking the cup sponsors to acquire a new one ahead.
