Akwa Utd’s relegation * Isong Isang, Charles Bassey fingered

The duo of the Club Chairman, Isong Isang and Charles Bassey (MON) has been accused in the current relegation threatening the state Premier League side, Akwa United FC of Uyo.

THE INK sports gathered that the choice of the now embattled coach of the Uyo side, Justin Tenger was done under a crook process without merit and that Tenger bended the job because of the huge bribe he was able to offer the officials and management of the team which is led by ex-Calabar Rivers player, Mr. Isong Isang.

Coach Tenger had before his coming to Uyo for the job of coaching Akwa United, led the Niger Tornados FC of Niger State to relegation but this inglorious feat did not deter the management of Akwa United who reached out for him despite better coaches who also came for the job.
Among coaches who came for the job were Maurice Coleman, Fatai Amoo and Ex Super Eagles player, Mutiu Adepoju (aka headmaster). But the screening committee which was chaired by Charles Bassey had to go for Terger because the relegation-bound coach had agreed to the corrupt request of Bassey and his team.

Our reporter gathered that Charles Bassey takes 40% of whatever is paid to Tenger while the coach takes 60% and Isong Isang is an accomplice of this dirty deal which foisted Tenger on the people. A member of the management team of the club told our reporter on Thursday after Akwa United had lost out the previous Wednesday that there is a problem of financial recklessness in the team. He accused Isang of not putting much into the team in terms of management. Our source stressed that the Club Chairman’s romance with Charles Bassey and Coach Tenger is responsible for the state-based side sojourn to relegation.

When our source questioned why Tenger should abscond from his duty post on a date the team was playing a very crucial match, the excuse was that he went to collect pension. This was dismissed by our source with an argument that the failure of leadership orchestrated by Isong Isang gave the coach the platform to dump the team at such a crucial time.
