Good Governance: Okobo Council Chairman bags excellence award

The purposeful leadership style; refreshingly huge commitment to quality service delivery; integrity, open door and fertile sense of administration policy exhibited by the Executive Chairman of Okobo Local Government Area, Princess Felicia Bassey has continued to win more friends than foes as laurels and awards stream to her office almost on monthly basis. 

This worthwhile development has compelled few die-hard critics within the area to either relocate identify with the chairman’s result-oriented leadership or resign to their fate in shame. 

As a mark of appreciation and encouragement to the Chairman, an Association of Beauty Queens and Kings, yesterday conferred Queen Mother Award on Princess Felicia Bassey and decorated her s a queen. 

Speaking while presenting the award to the council chairman in her office, the State President of the association, King Ukeme Michael, flanked by the entire beauty queens in the state, extolled the sterling leadership style of Princess Felicia Bassey and intimated her that the award  was in recognition of her deep passion for youth and women development. 

The association State President who was visibly elated with the level of development at the Council viewed leadership as an ability to translate vision into concrete reality. This he observed has been diligently and vigorously pursued by the Executive chairman of Okobo Local Government Area; Princess Felicia Bassey. 

The Kings and Queens State President remarked in an era where some leaders are representatives are building their wealth and glory on the suffering of the masses, the Okobo chairman was busy pursuing steadily the welfare of her people to turn around their economic woes and to give them a sense of belonging in governance. 

The association however installed a new Nigeria flag in Okobo Local Government Council to mark the independent celebration of Nigeria at 53rd.
Responding, the chairman, Princess Felicia Bassey said she as overwhelmed and humbled by the show of solidarity and acknowledgement of her contributions to the society, by the association and promised not to relent efforts in touching the lives of his people positively. 

The chairman who used the occasion to invite people to the inauguration of projects executed by her administration today in Okobo local government council, said within the short period of her stay in office, she has been able to construct modern motor park at Nung Atai Eta; instituted Okobo Women Cooperative Farm at Oti Oro/ Ebighi Anwa Ikpi; Perimeter Fence and Gate House at Council Secretariat; and procured equipment to trainees of skills acquisition programme. 

She charged the youths and members of the Kings and Queens Association to patriotic and law abiding citizens; shun cultism, and other social vices capable of truncating their growth and jeopardizing the relative peace currently witnessed in the state.

The chairman however promised to focus on more human development and evolve programmes that will enhance the living standard of the rural dwellers, in line with the uncommon transformation agenda of Governor Godswill Akpabio.
