Effiong Bob may emerge minister

 Effiong Bob may emerge minister
If news that filtered into the newsroom of THE INK Newspaper is anything to go by, then Senator Effiong Bob may be on his way to the federal Executive Council as a minister. It was learnt last night that in a recent meeting at Abuja, Governor Godswill Akpabio had informed Effiong Bob that he may likely nominate him to serve in the federal Executive Council. Akpabio is said to have also promised Bob in their reconciliatory meeting to come and take over the political leadership of Nsit Ubium in order to spite Obong Umana Umana the immediate past secretary to the state Government.

Sources say the information the Governor gave to Bob must have informed the senator’s decision to stage a meeting in his country home at Ikot Ekwere, Ubium were the Senator is said to have talked tough and dared anyone that will challenge his leadership of the Area.

At the meeting which had in attendance party faithful, Bob is said to have maintained that he remains the political leader of Nsit Ubium and not Obong Umana Umana. Bob hinted that the days of Obong Umana Umana leadership of the area is over and that he has come to take over what belongs to him.
A government House source told our reporter that due to the manner Umana Umana was piling a war chest against him, it was obvious that the Governor needed someone who will have the political muscle to fight the Ex SSG, to this level, the Governor is said to have promised Bob so many things including a ministerial position.
It is expected that sooner or later, the president will announce a replacement of his Exco members and if Akpabio will have his way, the next minister from Akwa Ibom may not be anyone other than the distinguished Senator Effiong Bob.

Meanwhile youths in Nsit Ubium have urged senator Bob to restrain himself in the manner he approaches politics in the area. The youths who confided in the newspaper said the continous attempt by Bob to incite youths of the area against one of them is totally unacceptable and will be rejected at all course. The youths added that while they respect Effiong Bob as an elder and son of the soil, the senator should not add more problems to the already existing ones in the area.

They maintained that effective representation cannot be sacrificed on the altar of political egoism as that exhibited by Bob. They however added that if Bob is interested in elective positions that have to do with Nsit Ubium, he should proceed with such and not to make inflammatory statements capable of creating troubles in the area.
