Okobo Monarch charges community to imbibe peace culture

The paramount Ruler of Okobo  local Government Area, HRM Owong Bassey A. Ibok, has charged the village head elect for Urue Ita, Offong Effiong Sam Okpo (JP), and the entire people of the community to imbibe a peaceful culture.

The Royal monarch charged recently at Okobo traditional Rulers council, during the official presentation of Chief Effiong Okpo as the village head elect  by the people of Urue Ita Community.
He said that if Akwa Ibom State must achieve peaceful co-existence, there is need for all the traditional rulers in the state to work towards ensuring that their respective communities remain calm and peaceful.
HRM Ibok challenged the village Head elect to carry everyone along and operate an open door policy saying the present administration had warned that traditional Rulers should operate within the ambit of the law.

The Paramount Ruler who described Chief Effiong Okpo, as a peaceful and humble Village Head, urged the people of Urue Ita community to co-operate with the new village head so as to combat restiveness in the area.

The Royal Father commended the leadership prowess of Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio, Stressing that the Ministry of Local Government and chieftaincy Affairs has live up to its responsibility of providing welfare packages to the traditional Rulers in the State. 

It was gathered that the minutes of selection was presented to Okobo traditional Rulers Council  and made available to newsmen indicates that Chief Effiong Okpo had served as the deputy village Head  for 22 years and acting village head  for one year before his elevation to the enviable position of the village Head. 
Speaking, the village head elect for Urue Ita, Chief Effiong Sam Okpo (JP), thanked the Paramount Ruler for maintaining peace in the area, and the entire people of Urue Ita for electing him and Promised to focus on those things that would help to foster peace and unity in the community. 

Chief Okpo sue for the support of the entire people of Urue Ita, calling on the youths to eschew violence and all kinds capable of truncating their future. Others who witnessed the presentation were Chief Friday Mathew (JP), Chief victor Wilson, Hon Odu Thomas, and Chief Okon Daniel amongst others.
