National dialogue, way out of National crisis – Onofiok Luke

National dialogue, way out of National crisis – Onofiok Luke

“The decision by  President Goodluck Jonathan to facilitate a national dialogue has set in motion our country’s preparedness to live in unity and in peace.

I commend the president for taking this bold step to ensure the convening of a national conference for the people of the country. This action is indeed in line with the wishes and aspirations of the people of Nigeria.
To me, the gesture by the president points to the fact that he is a listening president.
The platform for Nigerians to dialogue has become a necessity given the numerous crises currently plaguing our dear country. There indeed is a national emergency which the people of Nigeria must urgently address. Take the several down-tooling by our workers for instance; the mounting security
challenges; the increasing ethnic unrest, sectarianism and tribal extremism. These are enough grounds for Nigerians from every interest group to come together to chat a new course of nationhood.”

These are the words of Hon. Onofiok Luke, member Nsit Ubium State Constituency in a release made available to THE INK.
The Nsit Ubium born Lawmaker added that by setting up the platform for Nigerians to dialogue, I believe that the president has expressed the belief that in spite of all the odds against us as a country, this nation can still arise and exist as a strong entity.

He also observed that, it is imperative therefore that the various interest groups in the country see the national dialogue as an opportunity for them to align themselves with the aims and vision of the discourse so as to meaningfully chart a new course for the future of our country. When all modalities are ultimately in place for this dialogue, I humbly urge all ethnic groups to agree to come to the table with their various positions for dialoguing.

He commended President Jonathan’s choice of members of the national dialogue advisory committee. While also believing strongly that the members of that committee will bring their passion and patriotism to bear in discharging their duties in the committee.
