Akwa United escapes relegation ......as media officer assures fans of improvement next season


Akwa united Foot ball Club of uyo on  Sunday evening escaped relegation after pulling a 1-1 draw with Kwara United F.C in the Nigeria Professional Football League. The match was played at a neutral venue in Kogi state.

The Uyo based team was lucky to escape relegation after putting up a string of poor performances at the just concluded season. Akwa United’s woeful performance in uyo continued even till the last game of the season. It could be recalled that the uyo base side were held to a goalless draw by visiting Nembe City Football Club of Bayelsa in a week 35 fixture which led to conclusion by the fans that the team was going to be relegated. Despite the huge sums invested by the state government, Coach JustinTenger‘s team has struggled to escaped relegation.


Speaking with our spots editor, the media officer of Akwa United F.C, Mr. Uwem Ekoh expressed happiness that after a very hectic the 2012/2013 football season the team still made it to a success in the premier league. He assured all the football loving fans of the uyo club that all the mistakes will be corrected before the beginning of next football season. According to the media officer “we are very happy to escape relegation. We are going back to the drawing board, we will bring in quality players and some poor performing players will be dropped”.
