...as Engr. U. T. Essien bags PCRC Honorary membership award

Youths of Ibong Ikot Akan in Ikot Ekpene Local Government area have been advised to shun criminality and embrace peace in order to achieve a conflict-free society.
The charge was made during the conferment of the Honorary Membership Award on Uko Ikot Ekpene, Engr. Udo Tom Essien by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ikot Ekpene Area Command.
The event which attracted the crème de la crème in Ikot Ekpene LGA was held at Ibong Ikot Akan Hall on Saturday, 2th January 2017.
In her opening remarks, a former Librarian in the University of Uyo, Professor (Mrs.) Felicia Bassey thanked the PCRC for the honour conveyed on Engr. U. T. Essien, adding that the Award is well deserved, as he is a true philanthropist and a crusader for education who has impacted many lives in the community. She urged youths in the area to emulate Engr. Essien’s gesture and work hard for a well deserved honour both in the community and everywhere they find themselves.
Highlighting the role of the PCRC to include acting as a bridge between the Police and various communities, the Chairman, Ikot Ekpene Chapter of PCRC, Elder Macaulay Akpan disclosed that it is unlawful for a Police to arrest anyone by proxy, and charged the people on the need to know their rights as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Speaking further, Elder Macaulay said that the Honorary Award conveyed on Engr. Essien by the11 Divisions of PCRC in Ikot Ekpene was as a result of his credibility and good track records in the community and prayed more of God’s grace upon him to do more.
In their respective Goodwill messages, Justice Ekerete Ebienye and Mr. Sunny Ibuot said that Engr. Essien is a man who has passion for his community, as evidenced in his services to the area and for also residing in his community. They added that he is a brand that stands firmly on what he believes in and thanked the PCRC for finding him worthy for the Award.
In his response, Engr. Udo Tom Essien thanked the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) for the opportunity given to him to serve humanity the more. He promised to wholeheartedly perform his duties as demanded of him by the organization. He further pledged to form a perfect Ibong Community for the indigenes and to make it a home and destination for everyone while calling on everyone to embrace humanitarian service which is by extension, a service to God, so as to attract God’s blessings.
