The people of Mkpat Enin L.G.A. have been reassured of continuous flow of immense benefits in supporting the Governor Udom Emmanuel led Government and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State.
The Special Adviser on Political Legislative Affairs and Water Resources, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Ekong Sampson gave the assurance during a yuletide interaction with traditional rulers of Mkpat Enin L.G.A., to mark 2016-2017 cross-over.
The fete session which held at the Paramount Ruler’s palace had in attendant, executives and members of the Mkpat Enin chapter of Traditional Rulers Council (TRC), clan and village heads as well as renowned elders, chiefs and stakeholders in the traditional institution of the area, was heightened by presentation of yuletide packages, with words of honour and hope to the royal fathers.
The Honourable Special Adviser, who is popularly known and addressed by his people as “Onomkpoinam Mkpat Enin”, said he was proud to identify with the calibre of men in the TRC, and will always respect them in gratitude for their support through his political traverse.
Expressing utmost gratitude to God for his life and other lives that were spared in the Reigners’ church collapse incident, he said it was important for him to come and show his unhurt body to his fathers to end whatever worries might have been caused by various narratives flying around. He thanked the chiefs for their continuous prayers, calls and visits he got from them during the period. “Na me be this oh!” he exclaimed. He also urged them to share in the deep grief of the Akwa Ibom State Government towards families that lost loved ones and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Ekong Sampson communicated the acknowledgement of the support of Mkpat Enin people for the Government of the by His Excellency, Governor Udom Emmanuel. He alleged that his appointment and those of other Mkpat Enin sons and daughters into sensitive posts in the government, the siting of multinational status coconut industry, electricity substation, etc. were based on intelligence information on such enthusiastic support.
He further raised the hope of the people on Government’s resolve to construct the Ikot Akata-Ikot Usop-Ikot Edehe-Asong Ukam road which passes through the paramount ruler’s palace, encouraging them to hold on tight to the PDP led Government as immense benefits await Mkpat Enin in 2017, with him as a sure link between them and the Governor.
Chiefs in attendance took turns to appreciate The Honourable SA, recounting his deeds for the people of Mkpat Enin over time, particularly for the chiefs and elders since his days as LG Council Chairman.
It was acknowledged that Ekong Sampson is one politician whose philanthropy has touched all the clans in Mkpat Enin. Also, that some chiefs are fathers, brothers or witnesses to youths that are earning from the cars and other SMEs gotten through the Ekong Sampson Empowerment Programme (ESEP) few years ago. Another added that the children attending the tuition-free private secondary school in Ikpa Ikono, will grow up appreciating Ekong Sampson for giving them a good start in life.
The Paramount Ruler of Mkpat Enin, the Akwa Enin V, HRM Edidem (Elder) Akpan Akpan Ekpene concluded that God will always remember Ekong to deliver him from trouble, as he never forgets his fathers. He said giving is not consequent upon much possessions but a nature of great people, siting examples in the bible of people such as Jacob that gave and provoked the release of the blessing that made him great.
He said Ekong Sampson is not the first government person in Mkpat Enin but that his heart for the people has been remarkable. “For Governor Udom Emmanuel to honour us and appoint a helper of Mkpat Enin Government into his cabinet, God will honour his government and make his enemies too weak for him.” He declared.
He tagged the presents given to them by Barrister Sampson “venison” and called on all TRC member rise to pray and declare that as blessed Jacob and God prospered Laban’s farm because of him, He should bless Ekong and prosper Udom Emmanuel’s Government.
Rising from the prayer session, Ekong Sampson attended another crowded get-together of party faithful who were feted by the member representing Mkpat Enin in the AKHA, Hon. Otobong Ndem, in company of Chairperson and members of the Transition Council and party EXCO.
There he declared evidently to the people that the PDP in Mkpat Enin is one family and remains united as the traditional party of Mkpat Enin.
