State Protocol: Udom’s Kinsman calls for peace

A hotelier and Businessman from Onna Local Government Area Mr. Joseph Akpan has called for calm in the ongoing arguments on the abuse of State protocols by former Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio.

Akpan Stated this when he spoke to THE INK reporter in his office in Eket over the weekend. 

He maintained that ever since the 2nd January2017 solemn Assembly where the Senate Minority Leader Sen. Godswill Akpabio walked into the venue as Governor. Udom Emmanuel was taking the Bible reading that there have been lots of commentaries on the matter all seeking to put asunder the two men.

The Hotelier said inasmuch as every person is entitled to their opinion on the matter that there is a need for commentators to censor their opinion as according to him some commentaries do not just add up. 


Mr. Akpan who hails from Ikwe in ONNA Local Government Area maintained that Governor Udom Emmanuel and his predecessor Senator Godswill Akpabio will remain an inseparable pair irrespective of the Solemn Assembly incident.

Speaking further, Joseph Akpan advised Governor Emamanuel and Senator Akpabio not to be distracted by commentaries on the January incident but should rather foster stronger relationship as this he noted will make them finish stronger.

Akpan maintained that those casting aspersions and calling Sen. Akpabio names should please retreat as that is not a good way to treat an Elder Statesman who in a space of eight years was able to shot Akwa Ibom State into National reckoning.

He also appealed to those calling the State Governor names to refrain from such act as he noted that such attitudes appear to be underming the person and office of the State Governor. 

Udom’s Kinsman furthered that he is optimistic that with the maturity Governor Emmanuel and Senator Akpabio have been exhibiting over the years that the protocol hitch of 2017 2nd January will not sour their relationship. 
He said, we need both men and others for the continuous growth and Development of Akwa Ibom State.

He furthermore commended Governor Udom Gabriel Emmanuel on his developmental strides in Akwa Ibom State and described it as legendary.

Akpan however appealed to Akwa Ibomites to bury all forms of sentiments and support Udom for another term of four years. He described Governor Emmanuel as the bride of Akwa Ibom State now and beyond.
