APC’s plot to sack Udoedehe falls flat

APC’s plot to sack Udoedehe falls flat

BY VICTOR UFOT

Attempts by the state Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State Mr. Adamdu Attai and his associates to illegally expel Senator Akpan Udoedehe from the party was yesterday vehemently resisted by youths believed to be loyal to the former Senator.

Our reporter gathered that the State Party Chairman in connection with Obong Okon Umana the party’s flag bearer in the 2015 general elections have started scheming on how to expel Senator Udoedehe from the party because of the latter ambition of contesting the forthcoming general elections in 2019.

THE INK reporter who visited the party house was informed that problem started when youths supporting the former senator heard that some members of State Party officers headed by the State Chairman were at the state secretariat to finalize plans to oust party some members loyal to Senator Udoedehe from the party. The youths in their numbers mobilized the youths to the Party office and gained entrance into the party office in a bid to disrupt the meeting.

The drama at the State Party House along Atiku Abubakar highway Uyo attracted road users to pull out and watch the incident which many described as a show of shame.

According to the APC Youth president of Nsit Ibom Local Government, the youths of the party have been denied their rights to support whosoever they want. The vibrant Youth Leader while speaking to THE INK reporter, who visited the scene, accused the State Chairman of APC for always fanning the embers of hatred in the party since the general elections ended. He said the Chairman uses the problems in the party to illegally extract money from the party at the national level.

“Amadu Attai has killed this party we have labored to build for the past years, the other day we were having a state youth meeting here in the party house, all of a sudden, the party Chairman ordered some miscreants to come and chase us out of the building, is it compulsory for us all to support one man? Our only crime is that they want us to support Umana Umana which we are not ready to do that because he did not work or sweat for this party”.

He added that they have not been informed of their crime and promised to fight to their last blood to ensure that they are not expelled from the party they all built together. “We will not leave this party for anyone, they want to come and reap from where they did not sow, it will not happen, not in this State or this party, we refuse to be intimidated because we will not defect to any other party, this is our party”.

The visibly angry youths who spoke to our reporter challenged the state party Chairman and his partners to tell the whole world what Senator Udoedehe had done to them that will warrant them to plot evil against the man who single handedly built the party in Akwa Ibom State.

The angry party youths averred that Obong Umana Umana’s ambition was gradually becoming clearer by day which is to destroy the party “Umana is using Amadu Attai to achieve his evil goals in our party, he has killed the unity we use to have in this party, it is unfortunate that some disgruntle elements in our party have allowed themselves to be used by this selfish politician”.

They wondered why all the State working committee will neglect the directives of the National Working committee that no state should expel or suspend any member of the party, until all lingering crisis have been amicably resolved.

The state Secretary of the Party who was present at the Party’s house when problem started was manhandled by the rioting youths. The secretary later zoomed off with his Lexus car and returned to venue twenty minutes later with some well armed police men but he protesting youths had departed from the venue before the security operatives arrived.

The youths before they left the party house however promised not to rest until senator Udoedehe is given the recognition he deserves in the party.
