Chairmanship hopeful bags chieftaincy title

It was a very colourful ceremony when the people of Nto Udofia Community, Atai Otoro in Abak Local Government Area rolled out drums to honour an illustrious son of Abak, Sir Gabriel Etim with a chieftaincy title recently.

The event which took place at Nto Udofia Multi-Purpose Civic Centre, was arranged by the people of Nto Udofia to formally receive their son and Village Head of Atai Otoro, Eteidung (Pastor) Ikpe Thomas Udofia. At the occasion, Sir Gabriel Etim was honoured with the Chieftaincy title of Obongunwam Nto Udofia.

In his speech, the Village Head of Atai Otoro, Eteidung Ikpe Thomas Udofia said the conferment of the chieftaincy title on Sir Gabriel Etim was in recognition of his selfless contribution to the development of the community in particular and humanity at large.

Eteidung Udofia prayed God to continue to guide, protect and give the Obongunwam Nto Udofia the enablement to continue to render positive contributions to the development of humanity.

Responding, Obong Sir Gabriel Etim who was accompanied to the event by family heads of his home village, Ntukuk Afaha Obong, the Abak political class, members of his family and members of his campaign organization, thanked the Village Head and the entire people of Nto Udofia for the honour done him, stressing that the title will encourage him to do more for the development of humanity.


The chairmanship hopeful used the occasion to wish his supporters and the entire people of Abak a very prosperous new year.

Obong Etim restated his readiness to take Abak Local Government area to the next level of development if given the opportunity as the Executive Chairman.
Those who spoke with our reporter at the event, congratulated Obong Etim on the award, describing it as meritorious and well deserved.
