AKHA Speaker preaches love and unity among Akwa Ibom Indigenes ...As little Miss Eno-Edidiong Iniobong Obot makes church debut

The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon (Barr) Onofiok Luke has stressed the need for the younger generation of Akwa Ibom, as well as the entire Akwa Ibom indigenes to coexist in love and unity.

The love and unity message was passed by the Speaker, Sunday, at Emerald Event Centre in Uyo, while he addressed guests of Mr and Mrs Iniobong Obot shortly after the Apostolic Church, 69 Oron Road church service that hosted the dedication of their first child, Miss Eno-Edidiong Iniobong Obot.

Giving his address, the 11th speaker of the Akwa Ibom Legislature expressed appreciation to the guests for the love they showed the host family by turning out largely to make the occassion colourful.


He noted that aside biological consanguinity, social gatherings like such is what has been bonding Akwa Ibom indigenes from all walks of life and which he said, has been sustainining the people together as one indivisible entity.

The 6th Assembly lead man also noted that he has a dream of a future Akwa Ibom where such love will be taken beyond mere social gatherings to a sincere and genuine care and concern about each other’s interest and wellbeing, adding that his joy will know no limits when the said dream comes to reality.

To the gathering, which he observed, was mostly made up of the younger generation, the Speaker further gave a task of contributing their quota towards the building of a more united, stronger and better Akwa Ibom that, according to him, would be enviable, as well as be a subject of reference by the rest of the country and the world at large.

He also used the medium to solicit support for the current administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel, while particularly appealing to the younger generation part of the gathering to root same support to the present administration, as well as support the incumbent governor’s second term bid.

While pointing out that the current administration has already shown its value for the youths by the level of inclusion of the younger generation in governance, with reference to himself as a clear example, Barr Luke noted that with more support from the youths, more of such inclusion is guaranteed. He further hinted that the governor has assured of a roundtable discussion with the youths, where the position of youths as the government progresses will be discussed.

Speaker Luke finally ended his speech praying God’s blessings and protection upon the host family and the dedicated child, while also praying journey mercies on the guests as they return  to their respective destinations.
