Transition Committee member bags chieftaincy title

A member of Abak Local Government Transition Committee, Comrade Bernard Utang was recently conferred with a chieftaincy title of “Ntanta-Offiong Nto Udofia Community”.

The colourful ceremony which was also used by the people of Nto Udofia to formally receive their son and Village Head of Atai Otoro, Eteidung (Pastor) Ikpe Thomas Udofia, took place at Nto Udofia Multi purpose Civic Centre in Atai Otoro.

In his speech, the Village Head, Eteidung Ikpe Thomas Udofia said the conferment of the chieftaincy title on Comrade Bernard Utang was based on his contribution to the development of Nto Udofia Community in particular and humanity at large.


Eteidung Udofia expressed the hope that as a “star” the Transition Committee Member will continue to attract development to the Community. Responding, Comrade Bernard Utang who is the Supervisor for Education, Youth and Sports in Abak Local Government Council, expressed gratitude to God for what He has done in his life and or making the day possible.

Comrade Utang thanked the Village Head and the entire people of Nto Udofia Community for the honour done him, stressing that as “Ntanta-Offiong” (Star) Nto Udofia, the title will encourage him contribute positively to the development of the Community in particular and humanity at large.

The Supervisor called on the community to continue to support the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel to enable him succeed in his industrialization and wealth creation policy. The Ntanta-Offiong Nto Udofia also advised the youths to shun violence and act capable of tarnishing their future, but should rather engage themselves in positive venture which would enable them become useful and responsible citizens in future.

While soliciting for their continuous support and prayers, Comrade Utang promised not to disappoint the people.
