The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Charles Udoh has assured of a unified information management strategy in the State.
He gave the indication during a solidarity visit by Akwa Ibom State Publishers Forum, in his office on Friday, 23rd December, 2016.
The Commissioner said that total overhauling and harmonization of the Information management structure will be effected to put in place a robust platform to check information gap in the system and ensure synergy in all information delivery mechanism in the State.
Udoh maintained that the Ministry of Information will be proactive with strategic direction, assuring of full cooperation with all journalists in the state without discrimination. He promised periodic tour of government project sites for media practitioners in the state to ensure proper reportage of the activities and programmes of Gov. Udom Emmanuel-led administration.
Speaking on the issue of government interest in the Reigners Bible Church collapse, the Information boss said that Mr. Udom Emmanuel, as the Governor of Akwa Ibom State is responsible for every citizen and residents of the State, as such, has set up a panel of Inquiry to investigate into the mishap. He therefore appealed to the Akwa Ibom Publishers’ Forum as well as the general public to exercise patience, while the panel perform its assigned duties and come up with the report.
Speaking earlier, the leader of the group, Franklyn Isong of The Radar Newspaper commended the Governor for his rescue efforts and payment of hospital bills for victims of the Reigners Bible Church collapse and thanked God for sparing the life of the Commissioner during the incident.
He said they were in the Ministry to show solidarity with the Commissioner and for facts check on the recent collapse of the Reigners Bible Church building along Uyo village road, Uyo.
Also, David Augustine of Insight Newspaper pledged the group’s support to the Commissioner and Gov Udom Emmanuel’s administration and urged that journalists be carried along in all the State’s activities for effective coverage and reportage of the State.
