PDP faithfuls in Ikpa Nnung Assang ward 1 in Ikot Abasi Local Government area last Monday , appreciated the state Governor, Udom Emmanuel, for appointing their son, Barr. Uwem Ekanem into the board of Directors of Ibom Power Plant. They also resolved to return the member who represents them in the state House of Assembly, Honourable Uduak Odudoh for a second term, in view of his effective performance in the hallowed chambers.

They also resolved to return the member who represents them in the state House of Assembly, Honourable Uduak Odudoh for a second term, in view of his effective performance in the hallowed chambers.
This followed a twin motion, moved by a community leader and a former member of the local government council, Mr. Anthony Ekpe and seconded by the ward chairman, Emmanuel Udofot, while the motion to return the lawmaker was moved by the chapter secretary of the PDP, Engr. Stanley Inyang and the Legal Adviser of the ward, Emmanuel Inam respectively.
The two motions were the high point of a high- spirited party meeting which climaxed the local government ward sensitization tour by the leadership of the party in the country home of the lawmaker, Ikot Odunyongo in Essene, Ikot Abasi LGA on Easter Monday.
Held at the instance of Mr. Odudoh, in collaboration with elders and stakeholders of the ward. The meeting had as its agenda, to stimulate and consolidate support for the PDP in the ward as well as disabuse vulnerable minds that the party was crumbling in the ward, occasioned by pockets of defections to the All Progressive Congress, [APC].
Speaking at the event, the chairman, PDP Elders’ Forum and a former state officer of the PDP, Otuekong Atako Ukporo appreciated Gov. Udom Emmanuel for appointing Barr. Uwem Ekanem into the IPC Board and advised PDP faithfuls to resist attempts to be dragged into the valley of political misadventure by those he described as drowning politicians.
Also speaking, Barr. Uwem Ekanem noted with vehemence that the party is intact in the ward and appreciated the ward for remaining steadfast and firm. The pioneer majority leader of the state house of Assembly, assured the ward that the few greedy party members who have defected to the APC will be scrambling to return to the party in 2019.
Others who spoke in the same vein were the state Treasurer of the party and a former commissioner for commerce and tourism, Hon. Ufot Nkangude, Chapter chairman of the party, Harold Iwat, a commissioner with the federal complaints commission, Hon. Chelly Okoko and a host of others. The assured faithfuls of the party that PDP will bounce back at the national in 2019 and that the APC has no root and functional structure in the state. They all poured encomiums and lavished praises on Uduak Odudoh for representing them well and especially for mobilizing support for the Governorand the party in the state constituency.
Responding, Hon. Uduak Odudoh appreciated them for their love and support and solicited for continued cooperation to enable him unfold more dividends of democracy in the area .He restated his avowed determination to give them effective representation even as he pledged to join hands with elders of the ward to build and develop the party to an enviable height. Finally, he solicited for support for Gov. Udom Emmanuel to complete an eight years term, in line with established zoning and power rotation formula in the state.
The event attracted a threatening crowd that filled the lawmaker’s premises and overflowed into the Essene- Port Harcourt Highway. Some of the dignitaries were the Transition Committee chairman for Ikot Abasi, Ubong Uquang, Pioneer state Vice chairman of the PDP, Dr. [Barr] Emmanuel Umana, Former secretaries of Ikot Abasi council; Engr. Frank Okuku and Prince Charlse Umosen, MD of Hensek construction company, Engr. Uwem Okoko and a host of others.
