Nto Afe Annang, Uyo chapter that has been comatose for years is now alive with the constitution of a new executive to run its affairs for the next four years.
The new executive was elected from a well conducted election by Prince Ekpuk Jumbo and inaugurated at the weekend by the international president of Nto Afe Annang, Adede Isidore Archibong at a popular fast food out let called Food Affairs along Ikot Ekpene Road, Uyo.
Presenting certificates of membership to each of the executive, the president advised them to see themselves as servants and not to lord over members. He also advised them to be their brothers’ keepers, adding that unity is strength.
Archibong who was apparently elated over the development, equally advised the new executive to operate within the confines of constitution.
Others, who also advised the new executive, harped on brotherly love and other virtues like early attendance at meetings to act as encouragement to members and a lot more.
Those inaugurated were Joseph Francis- chairman, Sunday Uko- Vice chairman, Effiong Sabbath Stephen- secretary, Victoria Paul- treasurer, Imeh Inyang- welfare officer, Sylvanus Uko Akpan- director of socials, Owoedinyene Udoikoh- PRO, Ekaette Etim Robertson- women leader and Nse Ekpo- provost.
In his post inaugural address, the new chairman, Joseph Francis, thanked the international president for shelving his tight schedule to attend the inauguration in person, noting that any chapter that shares a singular privilege of having the international president graced her inauguration is indeed a lucky bride.
He called on indigenes of Annang of eight local governments resident in Uyo to identify with the organisation by picking the registration forms, fill and return to the new secretariat opposite Christ the King primary school along Wellington Bassey Way, donated by him. In the same token, old members were advised to re-register and book for new wrapper against the forth coming convention.
High point of the day was the presentation of a walking stick with sword by the new chairman to the international president.
