Iboro Ekanem chairs HOR’s telecoms masts ADHOC Committee …Fixes public hearing for 10th and 11th April

The House of Representatives has constituted an Adhoc Committee to investigate the health implication of mounting telecommunication masts close to buildings. The Committee was constituted vide resolution HR 11/2017 at the Green Chambers plenary recently. The Committee has the member representing Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency, Hon Iboro Ekanem as Chairman. 

Meanwhile, the Adhoc Committee has scheduled a 2-day Public Hearing to hold on 10am Monday, 10th and Tuesday 11th April, 2017 at Conference Hall 028, New Building, House of Representatives, National Assembly Complex, Abuja. 

In a release signed by the Committee Chairman, Hon Iboro Ekanem, the Committee invited the following organisations and individuals to attend the public hearing and to submit 20 hard copies and a soft copy of their respective memoranda to the Clerk of the Committee in Room HB 59 (White House Basement) House of Representatives on or before Friday, 7th April, 2017. 


Those invited are; Nigerian Communications Commission, Globacom Nig, Airtel Nigeria, Nigeria Telecommunications (NTEL), Etisalat, MTN, Nigerian Medical Association, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Federal Ministry of Environment, Federal Ministry of Communication Technology, Federal Ministry of Works, Power and Housing, Federal Ministry of Health.

Others invited are; National Broadcasting Commission, Consumers Protection Council, Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria, National Union of Postal and Telecoms Employees, Nigeria Television Authority, Africa Independent Television, Channels TV, Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria

Also invited are; Standards Organisation of Nigeria, Silverbird Television, Igbinedion Television, NESREA, Individuals/other stakeholders in the Telecoms industry, Civil Liberties Organisations, National Human Right Commission, Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria and the General Public. 

It could be recalled that when the House of Representatives opened debate on the matter, Hon Iboro Ekanem, an Electrical/Electronics Engineer made a very sound presentation that stood him out as an authority on the matter.
