The Women’s wing of Oro Union has been charged to use their veritable platform to promote sound etiquette and morals in women especially the girl-child in the state.
Akwa Ibom State governor’s wife Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel gave the charge when she received a delegation of the group in her office led by the National President, Barr. (Mrs.) Mary Aya Ewa.
Mrs. Emmanuel who frowned at the decline of moral values in the state said as mothers’, they were saddled with the responsibilities of mentoring the younger generations for optimal benefits of the society.
“As mothers, you are to see to it that the younger generations are cultured to take over. We must promote sound values and etiquettes in our women, as we all know, women are the bedrock of the society.” said the governor’s wife.
She also noted that the socio-cultural group remains an advisory platform for promoting peace and progress in the state and charged them not to deviate from the foundation of its forebears which was hinged on unity.
The First Lady added that for the state to attain its desired prosperous status, all forms of hatred and divisive tendencies among citizens must be eschewed.
Earlier, the President of the group, Barr. (Mrs.) Mary Ewa in her remarks appreciated the governor’s wife for granting the group audience despite her tight schedule and as well thanked her for the lofty programmes of her pet project.
“We are not oblivious of your activities to see to the wellbeing of women, youths and the girl-child in Akwa Ibom State. With Your Pet-project, you have been able to touch the lives of all in the state.” Ewa Said.
While pledging the group’s loyalty and support towards the administration, Mrs. Ewa further informed the governor’s wife that having seen the good work done by her pet-project; they decided to partner with her to touch more lives by training about 623 women on skills acquisition and setting up of cooperative societies to carter for the women.
In a vote of thanks, the Chairman Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Dr. Akon Eyakenyie thanked Mrs. Emmanuel for her humane disposition in the state and as well pledged the group’s support and loyalty beyond 2019.Highpoint of the visit was the decoration of the governor’s wife as Eke MMani Oro (Grand Patron of Oro Women)
