Senator Albert facilitates SMEDAN Post Seasonal intervention training in Uyo

No fewer than 120 constituents recently benefited from the post seasonal intervention training facilitated by Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert, Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East in Nigeria’s 8th Senate in partnership with Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).

The training took place from 22nd-25th March, 2017 at Senator Albert’s Liaison office hall in Ewet Housing, Uyo. One of the lecturers who offered training in Agriculture during the event, Dr Iniubong Udoh of the University of Uyo said basic agricultural insurance is usually characterized by property and personal risk. 

‘’ For Agricultural risk to be insurable, it must satisfy some parameters which the Nigerian Agricultural Insurance Company NAIC can readily give details and after the procedures have been followed a policy document is then issued for the insured’’ Udoh noted.


He also said there is need for agricultural branding and packaging of agricultural products to enhance appreciation for patronage by the consumer.

Several other lecturers delivered their lectures at the event. According to the consultants for the event, Leadmark Nigeria Limited, the post seasonal intervention training is a strategy by SMEDAN as facilitated by Senator Albert to give capacity to those who recently received training in various skills to assist them become better Entrepreneurs. Documentations were also done to assist the trainees’ access the lecturers even after the training.

It could be recalled that Senator OBA in partnership with SMEDAN trained over 120 constituents in various skills and were there after given fabulous cash rewards to assist them start their businesses.
