The Transition Chairman of Abak Local Government Area, Barr Emanuel Udosen has promised to unite youths in area through sports. He said sports being a unifying factor will be encouraged in the area in order to foster peace and unity among youths, stressing that if youths are engaged in a number of sporting activities, it will help reduce negative vices in the community.
Udosen also commended Governor Udom Emanuel for sponsoring the just concluded maiden edition of Akwa Ibom Youth Sports Festival in the state. He described the youth sports fiesta as “thoughtful and good foresight” of Governor Udom’s led administration, adding that it was a welcome development . “The Governor’s vision was for Akwa Ibom State to produce the Etim Esins, Udobongs, Onyalis, The Friday Ekpos Odegbamis and many others that can make this country proud in the next few competitions”.
The Abak Local Government Boss while speaking with journalists during the opening ceremony of the youth sports festival at Godswill Akpobio International Stadium, Uyo, said Governor Udom means well for the youths of the state, as according to him, the festival will help discover young talents for future national and international sports competitions.
The 2016 Sports Writers Association (SWAN) best Transition Chairman opined that talents that will be discovered after the festival should not be allowed t to waste away, advising that they should be given adequate training to enhance their performance.
Barr Udosen who had sponsored football and other sports competitions in the area since assumption of office also promised to continue to develop youth in the area through sports to foster peace and unity among them the area.
“ I will try my best to bring the youths of Abak together by organising sporting activities, as you can see I led Abak contingent to this festival”
He called on the youths in the state to embrace the Dakkada philosophy of Governor Udom Emanuel so as to help build a better Akwa Ibom for all.
