Udoedehe’s message on Easter

Udoedehe’s message on Easter

On the occasion of the 2017 Easter Celebration, I, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, wish to felicitate the government and the good people of Akwa Ibom State. I salute you all, and wish you the very best, during the season; but please, permit me to also prompt you all to the real significance of ‘Easter’, which is the essential aspect of the season.

The real meaning of ‘Easter’ lies in three words ‘A NEW COVENANT’. Easter marks the period when God fulfilled His promise to send a Messiah, who would die, to save mankind from sin. God’s intention was to establish A NEW COVENANT of everlasting life with Him; accessible only, through faith in Jesus Christ (His Son); His works; and His redemptive sacrifice on Calvary’s cross.

We all note that Jesus Christ was born into the world; and on earth, He lived an exemplary life. His life should therefore set the standard for ours (believers). He was vilified (not for His sins, but for ours); and crucified in order to fulfil His mission on earth. On the third day, He rose from the grave in victory; having confronted and overpowered Hell, Death, and the Grave; and presented to humanity, (on a platter), A NEW COVENANT.

I therefore most humbly urge all my brothers and sisters in Akwa Ibom State, and beyond, to mark the Easter of 2017, with sober reflection, and a commitment to live by the prescriptions of the NEW COVENANT, in order to access the great benefits God offers to all who believe; obey; and trust in Him.
Although I am not physically present with you in Akwa Ibom State, I am with you in spirit; and pray earnestly that Akwa Ibom State, and Akwa Ibom people, will experience spiritual rebirth; to invoke the bounteous and enduring blessings of God; His Son; and His Spirit through the NEW COVENANT.

Happy Easter celebration to my people; and may God bless you all.
Senator JJ Akpanudoedehe (Ph.D.)
