I’m not in Bassey Etim’s Camp –Cyril Ibanga

I’m not in Bassey Etim’s Camp –Cyril Ibanga

A PDP Chieftain from Nsit Atai Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom, Mr Cyril Ibanga has debunked insinuations in some quarters that he is in the camp of Bassey Etim in the face of the litigation contending the mandate the good people of Akwa Ibom North East generously gave to Distinctively Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert who rightly won at both the primary and the general election.

Ibanga who is the Deputy Chapter Chairman of PDP in Nsit Atai and the immediate past Publicity Secretary made the disclosure on Monday in Uyo in a chat with Journalists. He added ‘’It is very wrong for Hon Bassey Etim to claim he won the PDP Akwa Ibom North Senatorial District held on 7th December,2014 when I’m aware he got some under-aged in the name of delegates and conducted a parallel primary at Ibiaku Ishiet Primary School, his village against the authentic primary held at Uyo township stadium where the incumbent Senator Albert won with landslide delegates votes.

It is very surprising and l believe whatever document{s} be it result sheet or delegates list that aided his Federal High Court 2,Uyo victory were forged which is a crime against the State and should be made to face the full wrath of the law’.

He added that ’’As I’m talking to you now l don’t know where Bassey Etim lives, l don’t have his contact and l’m in no way in any political or otherwise dealings with him’’. Ibanga who said he has been deeply involved in the politics of PDP in Nsit Atai and Akwa Ibom State over time up to the extent of contesting election twice for councillorship and could not make it but has never been accommodated or compensated politically like the way Distinguished Senator Bassey Albert has done by appointing him as one of his Personal Aides through the recommendation of Nsit Atai political stakeholders.

He also pointed out that as a person he is in full support of Senator Bassey Albert being the duly elected representative of the good people of Akwa Ibom North East in the 8th Senate and as a stakeholder in the politics of Nsit Atai and Akwa Ibom having felt the pulse of the people in Nsit Atai they are happy over his principal’s performance at the red chamber and the deep connect he has with the people of the area and the Senatorial District at large.

‘’Look at the number of youths from the Senatorial District benefiting from his scholarship programme at least l’m aware he spends over N10m annually to bankroll the all school expense of the beneficiaries of which eight are Nsit Atai indigenes.

We can also talk about his training of 120 constituents recently on vocational training out of which seven are from Nsit Atai in partnership with SMEDAN, he has also built and completed a solar powered water project at Ikot Obong, Essien Itiaba in Nsit Atai the home of the political leader of Nsit Atai of which the people are very happy having been a need for some time now’’ Ibanga disclosed. He stressed ‘’How can l bite the finger that is feeding me, God forbid’’.

He called on the good people of Nsit Atai and indeed Akwa Ibom North East to continue to rally round the Senator to succeed given his impressive legislative strides at the red chamber with two bills already to his credit and the third one Gas flaring prohibition bill which has passed through second reading plus several motions. Ibanga further pointed out that Senator Albert remains one of Akwa Ibom’s finest and supportive politicians who deserve to be supported by all to any political office he wishes to aspire.

Ibanga said he is optimistic that the Appellate Court will right the wrong of the lower court in its verdict.
