Senator Helen Esuene, member representing Eket Senatorial District on Friday joined thousands of sympathizers at Ukana in Commiserating Barrister Ibanga Akpabio, State Secretary of the P.D.P over the death of his mother, late Mma Atim Ime Akpabio.
The burial Ceremony of late Deaconess Atim Akpabio which took place at Independence High School, Ukana in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, become a Political Mecca of the “who is who” in Akwa Ibom State and beyond.
Esuene who arrived the venue as early as 10.15 a.m was received by the bereaved, Ibanaga Akpabio and other top party Chieftains in the State including the Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon Sam Ikon.
Speaking after the burial ceremony, the distinguished Senator said she had to cut short her official engagement to pay the last respect to a woman who illuminated the path of the journey of life for many to follow.
She described late madam Atim Ime Akpabio as a woman who came to the world to advance the development of mankind towards its original purpose for the good of all and the satisfaction of God, adding that “the Icon fought a gallant fight and left behind a legacy that will remain evergreen”
Senator Esuene, a front line contender in the 2015 gubernatorial race in Akwa Ibom State condoled Chief Ibanga Akpabio and the entire family for the vaccum the demise of their mother has created and called on them to keep the memory of their mother alive through emulating her good works while on earth.
In his sermon, the Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr Chukwuemeka Kalu Uche, reading from the Bible book of Mark 10:15 called on Christians to seek the Kingdom of Good while there is yet time on earth as death must come when it must come no matter our status on earth.
The man of God charged Christians to always approach life as children if they want to make Heaven, describing late Atim Akpabio as a rare woman who humbled herself as a child irrespective of the station God placed her while alive.
Governor Godswill Obot Akpabio and his wife, members of his cabinet and the business class attended the burial ceremony despite the early rain that almost disrespected the deceased and family.
