Public Servants in the State have been charged to be resourceful by seeking avenues to create wealth at their spare times in order to realize their financial goals.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Elder Nse Ekefre gave the charge on Monday ,during the weekly Management meeting with Departmental Heads of the Ministry which took place at the conference room .
Elder Ekefre who noted that the present economic reality has eroded value of the workers’ take-home pay , added that a time has come for workers to depart from the conventional mindset of high expectations from Government, by developing appropriate framework for economic viability.
He however pointed out that achievement of financial abundance does not necessarily depend on high earnings but on what he termed as “financial intelligence”, as regards proper fund management ,savings and investment , and enjoined workers to harness other multiple income streams without violating Government rules and regulations to generate more income. This ,he said guarantees financial security and a fulfilled life.
The Permanent Secretary who also used the medium to appreciate the Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Akan Okon, for his laudable innovations in the Ministry ,commended the staff for maintaining high tempo in service delivery, and sued for their continuous cooperation .
Speaking on behalf of the Departmental Heads ,the Director of Administration, Mrs Stella Etukakpan thanked Elder Ekefre for his fatherly advice which she described as thought-provoking and assured the continuous support and cooperation of Staff in the onerous task of achieving the Ministry’s aims and objectives.
Present at the meeting were ,the Director of Debt Management Dept. Mr. Eshiet Ikpe,Funds Monitoring Dept .Elder Friday Udoh,and Account ,Mr. Effiong Umoumoh. Others were ,Mr Sunday Udioko of Computer dept, Mrs Aniekan Edet of PRS,and Secretary Staff Housing Scheme, Mrs Inyene Effiong.
