Urueffong Oruko gets new Supervisor

The Chairman of Urue-Offong Oruko Local Government Council, Chief Okon Tom Osung, has sworn-in Mr. Okon Effiong Bassey as a Supervisor in the Council. Until the appointment, Mr. Bassey was the Chairman of Road Maintenance Committee.

The appointee who hails from Oyubia village in Ward 3 succeeds Mr. Umana Efombru who was relieved of his appointment following a resolution by the Local Government Legislative Council.

The Local Government Chairman also announced the appointment of Mr. Johnson Johnson as his new Special Assistant on Road Maintenance.

Shortly after the administration of oath of office and allegiance on the new Supervisor, the Chairman advised him to be ready to contribute to the development of the area.

He explained that his administration was committed to judicious application of funds particularly to the development of infrastructure stressing that the renovation of a classroom block at a minimal cost was on going at the Primary School, Oyubia.

Chief Osung said similar projects were also to be expected in other areas and assured that the administration was still committed to impacting positively on the people through empowerment within the remaining period of the tenure.

The advised against rumour mongering and encouraged members of the executive, legislators and others in attendance to sensitize their people on the need to be vigilant in view of the present security challenges.

The event was witnessed by the Council Vice Chairman, Mrs. Precious Selong, member scholarship board, Chief Antigha Isong, PDP Chapter Chairman, Mr. Okon Uyah amongst others.
