2015: Supreme Youths Council adopt Ekong Sampson BY EMMANUEL AKPAN
Youths under the umbrella of the Supreme Council of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency Youths (SCIFECOY) have unanimously adopted Barr. Ekong Sampson as the best candidate to represent Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency at the Federal House of Representatives come 2015.

This is contained in a communiqué issued at the end of an interactive summit with youth leaders and activists of the three Local Government Areas of the Federal Constituency held on Wednesday, July 2, 2014.

The meeting which took place at the Hall of Fame, Ikot Abasi Local Government Council Secretariat, drew an unprecedented crowd of quality leaders and representatives of recognized youth groups in Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency.  The meeting was chaired by Mr. Etop Enang, a former youth council chairman in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area in the state, and currently, chairman, Elders Council of the Supreme Council of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency Youths.

According to the communiqué, the youths resolved to support Barr. Ekong Sampson to represent them in the National Assembly after SCIFECOY beamed their searchlight across the Federal Constituency for a man after God’s heart to rescue the Federal Constituency from retrogression and discovered Barr. Ekong Sampson with the vigour and pedigree to mediate in the crisis and restore peace and harmony to the warring local government areas to pave way for peaceful co-existence and economic development in the Federal Constituency.

Ekong Sampson who is currently representing the people of Mkpat Enin in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly was described as the only right person to help stabilize the Federal Constituency to achieve the lofty target of harmony and peace.

The communiqué reads in part: “as chairman of council in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, Barr. Sampson led an administration that related most peacefully with the sister Local Government Areas of Ikot Abasi and Eastern Obolo, and as chairman, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Committee on Judiciary, Justice and Human Rights and Public Petitions, Barr. Ekong Sampson has with amiable skills and intellect used the committee as a vehicle for conflict management and resolution and basic human rights protection.  Being a neutral party in the Amazaba – Ikot Akpanudo crisis and his legislative experience, accessibility and attractive empowerment programs which have endeared him to our youths and the general populace, we believe Barr. Ekong Sampson, as our elders and top former lawmakers declared earlier, will help to stabilize Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency”.

The youths maintained that they will not be misled by selfish and empty sentiments, emergency philanthropy or diversionary tactics but have resolved to support the politics of accountability, inclusiveness, empowerment and realism in line with the uncommon transformation components of Governor Godswill Akpabio’s administration.

They commended Governor Akpabio for his administration’s programmes which are friendly and for his human and infrastructural renaissance across the state, adding that they have resolved to overwhelmingly support the governor in his transition agenda and blueprint so as to midwife a succession that will consolidate on the famous gains of his administration.

Among those who attended the meeting were: Mr. Iniobong Ekanem, Chairman, Supreme Council of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency Youths, Mr. Ubong Emenue, Mr. John Idiong, Ezekiel Inam, Adasi Friday, among others.
