Last week, Akwa Ibom Progressive People’s Mandate (APPM) did her inaugural ceremony at the Prestigious Kalahari Bar, 47 Obio Imo Street, Uyo. The event which was attended by a boisterous crowd saw the faces of Apostle Effiong Afahaeme, and Elder (Dr.) E. B. Nkereuwem, the Board of Trustees Chairman.
In his speech, the National Coordinator, Elder Ekong Udo Eyop spoke on the aims and visions of the socio-political group and stressed with dexterity, why APPM endorsed Engr. Larry Esin as the next governor come 2015. In the same vein, the BOT Chairman who had earlier encouraged members of the group to work hard for the reality of their collective vision, reiterated the fact that politics in Akwa Ibom should be based on equity and fairness, adding that Larry Esin is the most favourite candidate for 2015 who would consolidate on the achievements of the present administration.
Responding, Engr. Larry Esin who was represented by Mr. Johnny Otong, thanked the group (APPM) for belonging to the winning team. He said, “Larry Esin is a transformer and visionary leader; he is the brain behind the building of Tinapa and Obudu Cattle ranch. Engr. Larry Esin entered the governorship race and did exceedingly well. He has served in many capacities in Cross River State during the Donald Duke administration”.
He also advised members of APPM to be patient and hard working, not given to the influence of money.
Present at the occasion was Obongawan (Mrs.) Ime Okpo, women leader of the Eket Senatorial District who gave her undiluted support to Engr. Larry Esin and advised other women to do same.
The event which also featured an oath-taking session by the newly-inaugurated members was administered by Etetim Onuk Esq. of the Onuk & Ibom Associates.
Sir (Dr.) Ubokulo, in his acceptance speech, advised the newly inaugurated members to adhere to the tenets of the group while Mrs. Janet Amba, the National Treasurer, on behalf of the National Executive Committee, congratulated the newly-inaugurated and charged all members to work hard for the manifestation of the APPM’s vision.
