Foundation honours A’Ibom Ex-Rural Devp. Commissioner, wife

The result-oriented and purposeful leadership style, patriotic commitment to quality service delivery, selfless service to humanity, humility, integrity and exceptional performance in government business exhibited by the immediate Past Commissioner for Rural Development, Barr. Effiong Abia, has continued to earn him the goodwill of Akwa Ibom people at home and in the Diaspora.

The Gideon’s Global Empowerment Foundation and Akwa Ibom people in Rivers State are not left out in the avalanche of groups, organizations and eminent Nigerians who fall over themselves to celebrate a loyal and detribalized Politician with varied experiences in the management of human and material resources.

The Gideon’s Global Empowerment Foundation, Rivers State, a foundation committed to the empowerment of the less privileged, widows and the needy, whose membership cuts across the country, last weekend honoured Barr. Effiong Abia and wife, Barr Mrs. Iquo Abia with Grand Patron and Matron Awards.

Speaking while presenting the duo with the Grand Patron and Matron Award’s plagues, the Director and Board of Trustees chairman of Gideon’s Global Empowerment Foundation, Dr. Obot Gideon described Effiong Abia as a consummate and distinguished politician who has touched lives significantly across the state, particularly his immediate constituency where he has empowered numerous youths and women for self-reliant and awarded scholarships to students across the state.
Dr. Obot expressed optimism that with the induction of Barr. Abia into the Gideon’s Global Empowerment Foundation, the honouree will show more zeal, dedication and commitment to things pertaining to God and humanity.

He appealed to government officials, public spirited organizations and well meaning Nigerians to empower the less privileged in the society through the foundation.

On his part, the chairman on the occasion, Commodore Eugene Aikoroje who described Barr. Effiong Abia as a man who has an appointment with destiny, noted that his induction into the Gideon’s Global Empowerment Foundation will further enhance his passion to advance the course of humanity and contribute meaning fully to the development of his fatherland.

Commodore Eugene  commended the leadership of the foundation for appreciating excellence and hardwork and their belief in service before reward.

In their separate comments, the Royal father of the day, Eze Ambrose Amadi, former chairman of Itu Local Government Area/Chairman, Akwa Ibom Covenant project, Mr. Ededet Ekanem, prominent son of Ibiono Ibom local government area, Engr. (Deacon) Kufre Ekong Inyang, former chairman of Oruk Anam, Mr. Emmanuel Essien and National Coordinator, Coalition for Akwa Ibom Agenda (CAKA) described Effiong Abia as an accomplished legal luminary, a shining light, a torch bearer and widely acknowledged benefactor who has impacted positively on the lives of Akwa Ibom people.

They described the event as another unique opportunity for Barr. Effiong Abia to demonstrate his unparalleled love for Akwa Ibom people; serve as a booster to his habitual magnanimity for his people and beyond.

Responding, Barr. Effiong Abia said he was humbled by the honour done him and his dear wife by the people of Akwa Ibom in Rivers State and the Management of Gideon’s Global Empowerment Foundation. He promised to remain resolute and steadfast in his drive towards touching the lives of the people and develop the society. He advised that merit, no matter whose skin is found should be recognized and rewarded.

Barr. Abia also used the occasion to thank Governor Godswill Akpabio for giving him an opportunity to serve in his government for over six years, adding that the Governor will forever remain his brother, master and friend. He called on Akwa Ibom people to imbibe the spirit of love and unity and continue to support Chief Akpabio to enable him complete his tenure successfully.
