Ghanaian monarch commends Gov Akpabio’s developmental strides

Renowned Ghanaian monarch, HRM, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has commended the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswil Akpabio for his sterling performance since assumption of office. 

The highly respected monarch who spoke when a delegation from the Millennium Excellence Foundation paid him a courtesy call  at his palace in Kumasi yesterday described Governor Akpabio’s achievements as sterling, adding that all Africa needs are focused and dedicated leaders who can deliver true  development to the people.

King Osei Tutu who is a nominee for the 2014 Africa Prize for Leadership holding in Uyo later in the year, said Africa was an endowed continent which must be rescued and returned to the path of glory and true development as witnessed in Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria.

 Governor Akpabio, who was represented by his Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, told the monarch-in council of the efforts of his administration in giving true meaning to governance by pursuing people oriented projects which have singled out Akwa Ibom State as a reference point in the development history of Nigeria.

The Governor thanked the Millennium Foundation for giving the State the opportunity to host the 2014 edition of the global LAAP Prize and assured that his administration will continue to partner with agents of development such as the Foundation.

In his remarks, the president of the Millennium Excellence Foundation and former ECOWAS President, Ambassador Victor Gheho said the choice of Akwa Ibom as the host of LAAP 2014 was informed by the unparalleled transformation of the State in a short while by the Akpabio administration, which he said best suits the foundation’s objective of identifying and recognising good leadership across Africa
Dignitaries who attended the session at the palace of the Asantehene included Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Ambassador Ademola Onafowokan, other members of the diplomatic corps, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Sir Etekamba Umoren.
