Ikot Okwo gets new Village Head

Chief Solomon David Ette, from the  founding family of Akpan Essien Ibanga Okwo in Ikot Okwo Village, Ukpum Ette Clan in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area, has been presented to Ukpum Ette Clan Council of Chiefs as the Village Head Elect of Ikot Okwo Village. 

The presentation was made by six out of the nine family heads in Ikot Okwo Village in a lavish ceremony at the palace of the clan head of Ukpum Ette, Etebom (Barr.) Clement Idemudo.

The Family Heads are: Chief Jesse David Udo Utinidem, Family Head of Akpan Essien Ibanga Okwo and the Nkuku Obio Okwo; Chief Udofot Lazarus Essiet, Family Head of Etukudo Isopokpuho; Chief Akpan Wilson Ufang, Family Head of Okponudofon; Chief Akpan Green, Family Head of Ikwa Atai; Chief Akpan Marcus Usen, Family Head of Unam Enang, represented by Akpan Ufot Abel; and Chief Aaron Usoro, Family Head of Akpakpan, represented by Akpan Akpan Moses.

Receiving the Village Head Elect, the Clan Head of Ukpum Ette Clan, Etebom Idemudo asked whether all the Family Heads present at the occasion were in support of Chief Solomon David Ette as the Village Head Elect of Ikot Okwo, and all of them answered in affirmation.


The Clan Head then declared that by that affirmation, the Village Head Elect, Chief Solomon David Udo had formally been received into the fold of the Village Heads in Ukpum Ette Clan and advised him to work amicably with his subjects for the peace and development of Ikot Okwo Village, Ukpum Ette Clan in particular and Akwa Ibom State generally.

In his speech, the Village Head Elect, Chief Solomon David Ette, thanked the Family heads in Ikot Okwo Village for finding him worthy for the position. He promised to assist the community in the areas of infrastructural development and maintenance of peace and unity. He said he would also work hand in hand with other Chiefs in the Clan for the overall development of the area.

The Village Head Elect then announced that he would soon setup what he called King Solomon Community Practical School in Ikot Okwo Village for which a land, according to him, had already been donated since 2002.

The school, when established will concentrate on vocational training of boys and girls within and outside the community for the needed manpower development in the state.
