Former commissioner for information Mr. Aniekan Umanah’s chances of emerging a federal lawmaker in the Green Chambers received a major boast over the weekend.

Thanks to stakeholders of Abak/Ika/Etim Ekpo Federal constituency’s punctuation of the third term bid of Emmanuel Ekon, the incumbent House of Representative member.

On Friday last week, stakeholders of Abak Federal constituency gathered in their numbers at the Independence Hall Abak Local Government Area.

The meeting which was presided over by the State Attorney General Barr Uwemedimo Nwoko arrived at far reaching decisions bothering on the coming 2019 elections in the Federal Constituency and Akwa Ibom state as a whole.

In a communiqué read by Ahaziah Umanah stated that come 2019, Abak Local Government Area will produce the next House of Representatives member after Etim Ekpo had gone twice. By this decision, the third term bid of Emman Ekon had fallen flat.


Abak federal constituency stakeholders also passed a vote of confidence on Governor Udom Emmanuel and his Deputy Moses Ekpo as well as senate minority leader Godswill Akpabio asking them to continue till 2023.

With this development, political pundits aver that the stage is now very set for Mr. Aniekan Umanah to pick the ticket of the federal constituency as it appears he is the most favoured. Meanwhile, the decision to zone the federal Constituency ticket to Abak LGA has not gone down well with Emman Ekon with persons said to be his supporters have since protested saying that if the zoning by the stakeholders must stand, then the senate seat of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District must be zoned out of Essien Udim Local Government Area.
Few citizens including men, women and youths were sighted protesting somewhere in the Local Government Area.

Amongst those who attended the meeting at Independence Hall in Abak include the state deputy Governor Moses Ekpo, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, all PDP chapter chairmen, all commissioners from the Federal constituency and their colleagues in the legislature, party chieftains amongst others.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after the meeting, a stakeholder and former chairman of Etim Ekpo LGA Uduot Jack acknowledged the contents of the meeting. He said the decisions arrived at was a collection of the interest and wish of the good people of Abak/Ika /Etim Ekpo Federal Constituency.
