Ukanafun Chairmanship aspirant opens up …Makes case for Ward I

An aspirant in the ongoing Ukanafun  Chairmanship Race, Prince Uko Okon Idiong has unveiled the blue print for the development of the Local Government Area which he is set to provide sterling leadership if given the opportunity.
 
In an interaction with the news men in Uyo, the former Councilor who represented the people of Ward one (1) between 2008 and 211 underlined the economic backwardness of his people as an area which will receive the attention of his administration, stressing that a strategic synergy would be put in place to mitigate the plight of the people, pointing out that Southern Ukanafun Clan which has not clinched the Chairmanship seat since 1999 has suffered incredible neglect by successive Governments. 

Prince Idiong who hails from Ikot Inyang Abia in Southern Ukanafun promised to demonstrate sincere commitment towards the empowerment of the people, especially the drecks of the society who are in dire straits, just like he would accord reverence to the traditional institution and elders; attract effective security architecture to carter for the security needs of the 87 village in LGA that is facing unprecedented security challenges in recent times. 

Prince Idiong who underscored the need to empower women and youths said that he would encourage the youths to be gainfully engaged which is the central message of Dakkada philosophy that is espoused byGovernor Udom Emmanuel, adding that when the youths are usefully engaged they may not have time to conceive of crime and criminality which nave stoked enablers of youth restiveness with the slightest provocation. He reassured his people of vast vistas of opportunities if given the chance. 

He maintained that “it is the turn of Urban Ward One (1) to produce the next Chairman of the Council being the only Ward out of the three (3) Wards in that Clan that has not enjoyedsince the return of democracy in 1999”. T

he Chairmanship aspirant explained that Ward three (3) produced Late Eseme Udo in 2000-2001, who was impeached and his Vice Chairman HOn. Aniebiet Odung took over in 2002, and appointed Hon. Ubong Dickson Ekanem as his Vice Chairman from Ward two (2) in Southern Ukanafun Clan, and then he resigned from office to contest election which his Vice Chairman from Ward two (2), Hon. Ubong Dickson Ekanem took over from him and became the Chairman of Ukanafun LGA in 2003 from Ward two (2); the only Ward that is left in Southern Ukanafun Clan is Urban Ward one (1) because we yet to produce that seat as elected Chairman since 1999 till date.
