Ukana Poly Matriculates Second Batch of Students

The Federal Polytechnic Ukana in Akwa Ibom State Thursday matriculated her second set of students studying in the institution.

The ceremony which took place at the GNS Hall, Annex Campus attracted parents, guardians as well as other members of the public. 

In his matriculation address,the Rector of the Polytechnic, Prof. Balama Obomanu charged the students to be of good behavior and to take their studies very serious in order to secure a bright future for themselves. Prof. Obomanu stressed that the institution had zero tolerance for cultism, examination malpractice, stealing and other anti-social activities and would not hesitate to sanction any student found wanting in line with laid down rules and regulations. 

According to the don,the institution is equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories and workshops as well as a conducive learning environment for students. He maintained that the polytechnic was set to put forward for final verification of earlier denied programmes including Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical /Electronic Engineering Technology, Science Laboratory Technology and some Business Management programmes.
He further hinted that plans were afoot for the National Board For Technical Education (NBTE) resource inspection later in the year for Mechanical Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Architecture and Quantity Surveying. 

He thanked the Akwa Ibom State Government for the support and encouragement given to the polytechnic so far and called on corporate organizations and public spirited individuals to partner in the development of education for the good of society. 

However, 90 students drawn from the departments of Computer Science and Statistics took part in the celebration. 

It could be recalled that the Polytechnic earlier in March rolled out drums in a colourful celebration to mark the first matriculation of the polytechnic and the beginning of academic activities in the institution.
