Nsit Atai ward 10 PDP stakeholders adopts Effiong Mbang for Councillorship

Major Stakeholders and Elders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP in Eastern Nsit Ward 10 has unanimously endorsed the candidacy of Mr Effiong Achibong Mbang from Ikot Esop village as the councillorship candidate of the party in the November 11 Local Government Election.

The decision was taken at the enlarged Stakeholders / Elders meeting of the party in the ward which took place at the residence of the leader of the ward, Rt Hon. Ubong Mbat, at Ikot Essien Nsit, Nsit Atai Local Government Area on Thursday, 10 August 2017.

The stakeholders unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel on his impressive performance in the state since assumption of office. The party elders maintained that judging from the physical developments that can be seen and others, the governor has brought to bear his capacity to put the state on the path of economic prosperity. They commended the governor for the many giant strides demonstrated so far from road constructions to improved electricity, industries, agriculture, human capital development, and many others laudable programmes of government has merit the governor a second term in office come 2019.

It was agreed that they will mobilize resources and massively support the governor come 2019 to return to the hilltop mansion, Uyo and continue his laudable projects and programmes that will full develop the state and benefit Akwa Ibom people.


Addressing the Stakeholders, the Secretary of the ward Elders council Hon. Emmanuel Ikpe who represented Rt. Hon Ubong Okon Mbat whose instance the meeting was called said the decision of the Elders /Stakeholders to adopt the councillorship candidate was in line with the governor’s directive that stakeholders in each wards should produce a candidate for the party in the forth coming local government election.

He maintained that during the last stakeholders meeting with the governor, the need to adhere to zoning and allow an area that has not been represented to have opportunity was emphasized. And in line with the governor’s directive, it was agreed by stakeholders that Ikot Esop which has not has never produced a councillor should be given the opportunity to present their choice candidate to stakeholders for onward presentation to the party.

While presenting the councillorship aspirant, Mr Effiong Archibong Mbang to the stakeholders, the former chairman of PDP in the ward, Chief Pius Ukpong who is currently the chairman of Ikot Esop Village council said the choice of Mr Effiong Archibong Mbang (Idong Mbang) was the unanimous decision of the village council based on the aspirant track record of humility, consistency and commitment to the victory of PDP in the village and the entire ward.

Mr Ukpong told the stakeholders that as the chairman of Ikot Esop village council, apart from being a major stakeholder PDP in the ward, he was also representing the village head, Chief Akpan Nathaniel Udo. Adding that the village council is aware of a woman impostor from Essien Udim who came to Ikot Esop by an act of fornication who does not come from Ikot Esop either by birth or marriage being paraded around by an ex-convict, Reuben Iba from Nda Nsit village in his desperate attempt to impose her on the village.

He further said that Ikot Esop council has accordingly written a disclaimer to the stakeholders warning that they should not recognize the said woman apart from Effiong Archibong Mbang for the councillorship position.

The village council chairman also said that the said woman who has never visited the village used to live with one of their son in Uyo until when the boy died last year that she came with the family people to bury the boy, and since that last year, nobody from Ikot Esop saw her again until local government election was announced that Reuben Ibia brought her to impose on the people.

Also speaking, the Secretary of Ikot Esop village council, Engr Monday Nathaniel thanked the stakeholders for the honour done Ikot Esop, and disassociate Ikot Esop people from an attempt by Reuben Iba to impose his girl-friend on the party. While commending the stakeholders for their sincerity and unity of purpose which he noted has never happened in the ward, promised never to disappoint the stakeholders and the party.

Responding, the councillorship aspirant, Mr Effiong Archibong Mbang thanked the village council for the confidence they have in him and the stakeholders for allow Ikot Esop a chance in the council, and assured the village and the party that he will never let them down.

He said that he will work hard to justify the mandate freely given to him by his people, and will ensure that everybody in the ward is carried along in all his programmes.
