AKHA 2015: Kufre Ufot withdraws from race

MR.  Kufre Ufot a surveyor from Edemaya Village in Ikot Abasi Local Government Area who was said to be interested in the race to the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to represent Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State constituency has withdrawn from the race it was gathered.

A close ally to Mr. Ufot told our reporter that it was necessary for Ufot to withdraw from the race as he will not be able to match the political gladiators that has since warm up for that position especially as it is becoming clear that the serving member of the Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo State constituency Aborh Uduyork was seriously considering a second term at the Assembly. But he maintained that Kufre Ufot may have been preparing his way into political limelight and that his aspiration was to fetch him an appointment or perhaps settlement.

A member of the campaign team of the Surveyor while exchanging views with our reporter hinted that it was a unanimous decision taken by the Central Working Committee of Kufre Ufot for Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo House of Assembly ambition and that Mr. Ufot himself had also said he was for now considering to arrange his supporters behind one of the aspirants in the race.

Also confirming this report to our reporter was a PDP chieftain who described himself as Akpan Daniel Ekong. Ekong in an interaction with our reporter said “Kufre is not contesting any election”. He said all those who have been running around him are simply looking for a way to extort money from him. It is even very obvious that Kufre cannot win election in his ward talkless of winning both Ikot Abasi and Eastern Obolo. He however commended Kufre for seeing ahead of time by deciding not to run and warned the Ikot Abasi born surveyor to look very well before he advises his supporters on whom they should support.

A PDP stakeholder from Mr. Kufre Ufot home said Kufre Ufot is not a politician adding that Ufot is a weakling who will not have the muscle to withstand the rigours of elections. He praised Ufot for deciding not to run again and called on him to seek ways of integrating himself into the politics of Ikot Abasi LGA.

When contacted on what he will tell his supporters as to why he is not contesting again, Mr. Ufot couldn’t be reached as his mobile phone number was not connecting but a source close to his campaign manager said, it was the decision of the caucus of the CWC of Ufot to shut down the contest and move his supporters to any credible candidate.
