The last may not have been heard of the battle for the soul of the opposition party, APC in Akwa Ibom State. As at last week investigations by our reporter revealed that due to what many has since come to describe as unruly behavior and public misconduct, the leadership of the APC may have resolved to sack Senator John James Udoedehe from the party.
Initial investigations reveal that ever since Udoedhe was defeated by Umana Umana at the APC guber nomination, the former Uyo council boss have not spared any time to descend on the former SSG and has been going about it with impunity not minding the intervention of the Party at the National level who have consistently informed him, Udoedehe that they will look into the matter.
Our reporter gathered that the National leadership of the APC is angry with Udoedehe again because the former Uyo senator has been inciting some notable leaders of the party at the state level against the APC's flagbearer, Umana Umana.
Sources say despite entreaties sent to Udoedehe that the ex FCT junior minister have been behaving like he wasmeant to win the APC nomination at all cost. It was gatherted that the Party in Lagos had tried to settle the duo, Udoedehe and Umana but that Udoedehe had made some remarks that was unbecoming of a personality that is interested in the governorship of a state. Our reporter understands that Udoedehe is also under a secret investigation by the National APC over allegations of his romance with the PDP through Akpabio and Bassey Albert.
It could be recalled that speculations were rife that on the eve of the APC guber nomination the PDP in the state had sent to Udoedehe the sum of about three hundred million naira. The said sum those who claim to know said was to enable Udoedehe use in scuttling the chances of Umana emerging the APC flagbearer. Those who alleged claimed that the PDP feels that defeating Umana will not be easy as compared to Udoedehe.
As at the time of this report, nobody from the state chapter of the APC was willing to volunteer information on the impending sack of Udoedehe. But a national officer of APC who spoke in confidence to our reporter said, the sins of Udoedehe against the APC has since been reported and that the party is putting up machineries to stop a further occurrence. Our source added that the APC is not leaving any stone unturned in its bid to take over the leadership of Akwa Ibom State. This position has since fuelled the belief that Udoedehe may be sanctioned except he changes his ways.
An aide to Udoedehe when queried by our reporter said, yes, Obongowo had some problems with the National APC due to the manner he handled the post nomination crises, but that the matter had since been sorted out with a commitment from Udoedehe that he will work with Umana to ensure that the APC wins Akwa Ibom State come 2015 guber exercise.
