AGREE – Nigeria ends trade fair/exhibition

Activities marking a fourteen days  Akwa Ibom Corporative Societies Trade Fair and Exhibition for the 2014 have been concluded with a call on the participants to make goods advantage of the programme in order to be beneficiaries of the N220bn MSMES intervention fund of the Federal Government.

The laid down advise was given by the National Coordinating Chairman and Convener of the August 19 Agricultural & Economic Empowerment Initiative of Nigeria (AGREE – NIGERIA) Dr. UmohAbasi Don, during the 14 Day event which was held at Comprehensive Secondary School, Four Towns, Uyo.

In his remarks, the Chairman on the occasion and Managing Director of Assure Electronics, Dr. Friday Etuk specifically commended the good gesture and foresight of Dr. Umoh-Abasi Don for this initiative whom he said has attracted about three million cooperators from the 31 Local Government of the state to interact, identify and exchange goods and services amidst entertainment and symposiums.
Dr. Etuk similarly thanked Dr. Don for attracting the programme to Akwa Ibom, describing it as first of its kind.

He used the opportunity to charge cooperative societies on their part to make good use of the event by keeping government policies towards diversifying the economy.
The 14 days climaxed on 3rd January 2015, featuring paper presentations from Mr. Akwaowo Obop, a director in the State Ministry of Agriculture on the topic: “Crop Production and Values Chain”, while Mr. Efefiong B. Offiong spoke on the topic: “Fish Production and Value Chain”.

The event also featured a prayer by “The Agree-Nigeria Prayer Squad” who also took center stage to pray strategically for the peaceful general elections in 2015 and also for the continuity of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Other highpoint of the occasion were a march past in honour of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the disbursement of the sum of NGN 220bn intervention fund for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME).  Display of farm products brought by Cooperative Societies for exhibition and display of seafood from riverine areas such as Okobo, Ibeno, Oron, Itu, among others.
