PDP inaugurates election committees in Ukanafun

Election committees to ensure landslide victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the presidency to state assembly were inaugurated on Thursday at Ikot Akpa Nkuk, the council headquarters.

Performing the inauguration, the champion of Akwa Ibom Consolidated Alliance (ACA) in the area, Obong Eno Akpan charged, the election committees in each of the 11 wards is to see to it that the party wins at all levels. He emphasized that PDP has a daunting task to deliver president Goodluck Jonathan for a second term, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and his running mate, Mr. Moses Ekpo to the Hilltop Mansion, adding that the only way to compensate Governor Godswill Akpabio is to vote massively for him to represent the good people of Ikot Ekpene senatorial district at the senate. Obong Akpan who is the commissioner for Lands and Town Planning explained that Governor Akpabio would give the people effective representation given his amazing political antecedent.


He advised the people not to give opposition a chance to defeat the ruling party as adequate preparation has been put in place for the February elections. The ACA champion advised the PDP members to mobilize as if they are going to war, although weapons of war would not be involved. He expressed optimism that Mr. Udom Emmanuel would provide the needed dividends of democracy so long as the people  work hard for his victory.

The secretary of Udom Emmanuel campaign committee at the Local Government level and chairman of the council, Apostle Sylvester Udokang said the task before the ward committees and unit monitoring teams is challenging as it calls for enormous sacrifice so that the party can win the elections. He described the votes as the only weapon of the people which they can use to defend and empower themselves.

Also speaking, the member representing Ukanafun State constituency in House of Assembly, Hon. Aniekan S. Akpan stressed that giving votes to candidates of the party is a yardstick for support as it is only votes that can make a candidate to win election. The lawmaker urged the party members to vote President Jonathan, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Governor Godswill Akpabio, Hon Emmanuel Ukoette and Mr. Otobong Jonathan Akpan who are all candidates of the party. He maintained that there is no opposition in Ukanafun as PDP would win all the votes in the 11 wards.
