In the spirit of New year celebrations, the President/Founder, James 1:27 Orphanage, Ikpa Town, Esit Eket LGA, Bishop Evans Udoekaisong (JP), has eulogised public spirited individuals and groups for sustaining the lives of over 85 orphans and widows under his watch.
However, the home has also stressed the need for Children of God to help the less privileged, particularly orphans, the vulnerable and widows, to enable them to survive the present harsh economic climate in the country.
While congratulating various persons and organizations for their contribution to the growth of the orphanage over the years, the Man of God charged them not to relent in their efforts at making it a model for others.
“As the global economic recession continues to bite harder, Children of God owe God the duty of doing good, not only because He also gave us Jesus
Christ as an ultimate giving, but also because that which we have belongs to God in the first instance”, said the Bishop.
Continuing, he said: “The popular story of the good Samaritan enjoins us to do good to whoever is within our power so to do, and I urge that as sojourners in this world, we must continue to do all we can to empower the powerless, especially orphans and widows”, he stated.
Speaking with newsmen after the prayer and fasting session which lasted for 12 hours, Bishop Udoekaisong explained that the decision to organise the event was informed by the need
to celebrate individuals who had contributed their talents , time, money and food stuff to the growth of the orphanage.
“Those who have contributed and donated massively to James 1:27 Orphanage, Ikpa Town, are heroes and heroines of this small, but historically home, which has over 85 children and 3 widows. As the Apostles of old said, we have neither silver nor gold to give to them, but we are so sure that the hearer of Prayers, most especially, prayers from mouth of the downtrodden and kids, will forever reward our donors in million fold, Amen”, he stated.
While expressing the Orphans’ appreciation to the donors, the cleric, however, charged them not to relent
in their efforts at growing James 1:27 Orphanage, especially in the area
of assisting them to erect some buildings to house the ever increasing number of children, the work they started over a decade now.
The home also solicited for food stuff, beddings and clothing.
They are located at No 6 Court Road in Ikpa Town, Esit Eket LGA, Akwa Ibom State. The home can be reached through its President /Founder, Bishop Evans Udoekaisong, on 0902-380-0642.
