Udung Uko students eulogies council chairman over bursary payment

The Leadership and the entire students  of the Association of Udung Uko Local Government Students (NAULOGS) , worldwide has commended the council chairman, Mrs Kennim Onofiok for the timely and recent payment of bursary and project aides to students of Udung Uko origin studying in tertiary institution of higher learning across Nigeria and beyond.

The students made the commendation through their National president, comrade Emmanuel Umiom while exchanging views with newsmen recently in Uyo, the state capital.

Comrade Umiom who was full of appreciation to the chairman’s good gesture on behave of the students, explained that the payment was made at the time the students needed some financial support most and commended her motherly disposition on the youths, students and the entire Udung Uko people. 


The NAULOGS president hinted that Mrs Kennim Onofiok has written her name in gold for being the first chairman in the history of Udung Uko Local Government who gave sincere attention to student’s matters, welfare and concerns in the area.

He added that the council boss has taken the lead as the first female chairman in the state to have raised the payment of bursary from five to ten thousand naira and also increased project aides from ten to fifteen thousand naira respectively.

Comrade Umiom argued that the increasing number of over 345 undergraduate students who received ten thousand naira each, 115 graduating students and 50 post graduate students now receiving fifteen thousand naira respectively, remains the highest figure since the inception of student unionism in the area, describing it as second to none.  

While calling on other council heads in the state to borrow a leave from Mrs. Onofiok,s leadership style, Comrade Umiom thanked the committee members who handled the payment for their sincerity as well as adopting a transparent approach in ensuring that every student whose name appears on the list were successfully attended to during the payment exercise.

 Describing Mrs. Onofiok as a listening chairman, the NAULOGS president used this medium to appeal that she use her good office to initiate and implement a monthly subvention for NAULOGS executive to enable them discharge their duties effectively, institute a scholarship programme for students of Udung Uko origin to also to help address some financial challenges facing them in the course of their study as well as provision of a 18 seater bus to help ease the transportation problem facing the union

He therefore commended the students for conducting themselves in a mature manner, which according to him, help in facilitating the smooth and successful payment process and pledged their continued unalloyed support, corporation and unflinching loyalty to her administration at all time.
