As part of her contribution to support the sustainability of uncommon trans formation in the State, the wife of the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Maria Ekanem has admonished two women socio-political groups, the of Atai Iban Ubium South and Nsit Ubium Unity Women to be part and parcel of the ongoing 2015 PDP electioneering campaigns in the State.
Mrs. Ekanem gave the advice when the two groups whose membership cut across the 10 wards of Nsit Ubium Local Government Area paid her a solidarity visit in recently In Uyo.
She commended that it is necessary for women to organize themselves together ahead of the campaigns in order for them to rally support for all the candidates Peoples Democratic Party in the state and Nigeria at large, ranging from President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, Governor Godswill Akpabio, Obong Bassey Albert, Barrister Onofiok Luke among others.
Mrs. Ekanem charged the women to stand firm in their support for the ruling party, (PDP) which she described as the winning party, adding that they should not compromise the party for the sake of equity and for the future of the next generation. She assured them that they will not be left out in the scheme of things in the next dispensation.
The SSG’s wife appreciated the women for the show of love and solidarity towards her and the government of Akwa Ibom State. She urged them to continue praying for a peaceful 2015 election in their different denominations even at their various homes.
In their separate responses, the coordinator of Atai Iban Ubium South, Obonganwan Charity Inyang-eno, and the Coordinator of Nsit Ubium Unity Women Group, Mrs. Elizabeth Etuk thanked their hostess for always responding to the needs of the women and for believing in them and pleged their groups resolve in supporting the administration of chief Godswill Akpabio to the end and his succession plan and also commended their initiators ingenuities in forming the groups and pledged to stand by her and deliver PDP candidates in the February 14 and 28 elections.
High point of the event was the distribution of wrapper materials to the two different women groups.
