2015: Nsit Ubium, Eket declare support for Jonathan, Udom

The people of Nsit- Ubium and Eket Local  Government Areas in Akwa Ibom have been called upon to vote President Goodluck Jonathan for second term and Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the next governor of the state under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor Godswill Akpabio, who made the call Saturday at the first state PDP campaign rally held at the Nsit-Ubium secretariat grounds and later at the Eket Stadium, remarked, “I call on the people of Nsit-Ubium and Eket local government areas to come out en-mass to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan for second term in the upcoming elections, so that he can continue in his good works for the country. And I believe that with the emergence of the president for second term, the insurgency we are facing now in the country would definitely come to end”.

Akpabio noted “I am impressed with the turn-out of the crowd today to support our very own, Mr. Udom Emmanuel. I must say  I am very impressed at the massive crowd in Eket and especially in Nsit-Ubium in spite of what rumor mongers in local tabloids said that Nsit-Ubium has defected to another political party. So, today I call on you all to support and vote for Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the next governor of the state under the platform of the PDP”.


“Mr. Udom Emmanuel will complete the remaining projects on ground because his administration as the next governor of the state would be based on sustainable development.  So, I give my word that he will keep his promise by carrying the women, youths and the entire people of the local government areas along. I must use this opportunity to thank the people of Nsit-Ubium people for supporting justice that the next governorship seat should be zoned to Eket senatorial district”, he said.

The Governor then called on the people to obtain their voters card and turn out en-mass to vote for PDP in the upcoming elections.

Chief Akpabio had earlier presented Mr Udom Emmanuel to the Paramount Ruler of Nsit- Ubium, Obong Solomon Etuk and then to the Paramount Ruler of Eket, Edidem E.C.D Abia at their palaces.

Speaking earlier, Mr. Udom Emmauel who won the primaries for the governorship seat under PDP, said he was totally impressed by the mammoth crowd in Nsit-Ubium and Eket local government areas.

According to him, this  indicates the love the people have for him, and promised to carry the two local government areas along in his administration when he emerges the next Governor of the state.

He stated that he would create massive job employment through the building of industries and companies like a pharmaceutical company in Nsit Ubium and that he intends to build a steel company, a methanol plant, Sheraton by four-point hotel, among others in Eket.

Emmanuel disclosed that he would change the phase of the state to a tourist town, pointing out that the economy growth of the state would lead to the economy destiny of the state.

The state PDP chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo said that the massive turn out of people in Eket and Nsit-Ubium for the rally is an indication that the people support PDP and that there is nothing to worry about.

He said the state conducted one of the freest primaries who saw to the emergence of Mr. Udom Emmanuel as the governorship aspirant and believed that the people would never be disappointed with the choice of PDP.

Ekpo presented flags to PDP candidates contesting for the House of Assembly, House of Representatives and the Senate in Nsit-Ubium and Eket state/federal constituencies.

In their goodwill message, stakeholders in the two local government areas re-affirmed their support for President Jonathan, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and pledged to deliver all PDP candidates in the upcoming general elections.

Stakeholders who spoke at Nsit-Ubium were Sen. Effiong Bob, Amb. Sam Edem, Hon. Emmanuel Ibiok, Hon. Onofiok Luke, among others, those who spoke at Eket, were Rt. Hon. Ndueso Essien, Brigadier-General Etukudoh (retd), among others.
