Oruk Anam roots for Eshiet Offiong … As Ukanafun insists on zoning
The People of Oruk Anam Local Government Area have thrown their  weight behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate saying that they are solidly behind the candidature of Elder Eshiet Offiong to win the House of Representatives seat in the February 14, 2015 election.

Speaking on Saturday at Ikot Ibritam, the Chairman of APC, Oruk Anam Chapter, Pastor Anthony Tobby Akpan revealed that the people of the area will give block votes to Elder Offiong, just as they are committed to justice and fair play which has been a long standing practice between the two Local Government Areas in the federal constituency. Pastor Akpan made the disclosure when the candidate intimated them on his readiness to contest the February election.
The Chapter Chairman expressed appreciation to the APC candidate whom he described as a symbol of the desirable change, adding that as a grandson of Oruk Anam they would not compromise their avowed support to him. He lamented the abject poverty among the people which has become a familiar terrain over the years, describing the candidate as the “the Moses of our time” who has been sent by God to liberate the suffering people of the area. Pastor Akpan expressed determination to make good his promise even as the candidate has consulted the party which is an agent of the necessary change.

Elder Offiong promised to demonstration profound patriotism in the discharge of his duty if elected into power, stressing that what happened in 2003 when the people opted for Hon. Ubong Etiebet on the platform of ANPP should come to play. He appealed to the people “not to shift the ancient landmark” on the alter of selfish political greed which is anti people. He called on the People to take the bull by the horns to do the needful by fighting against injustice even as he would not vie for a second term if elected.

The event was graced by the chapter executive members. The include Mr. Emmanuel Ukanga, Emmanuel Bob Ekarika, Eno Raphael, Ubong Udo, Michael John, Aniefiok Albert Etukudo, Unwana Okon Udom, among others.

Speaking at Ikot Akpankuk the APC chapter chairman same day, Mr. Ekeobong  Inwang said the issue of zoning has been a long standing practice among the people of the federal constituency, emphasizing that second term is a negation of the people’s will. He gave assurance that the election of Elder Offiong is a done deal which has been sealed by natural justice,  thanked the APC candidate for the show of love during the new year which is a demonstration of commitment to the people’s project.

Elder Nseabasi Akpan Ido stated that the People should not allow greed of some selfish people to blindfold them from doing the right thing. He said the people have decided to pitch their tent with the candidate because he is God-fearing and humble. He expressed optimism that Elder Offfiong would bring dividends of democracy to the grassroots.

The chapter secretary, Mr. Edidiong Ubokudom pointed out that the People cannot sacrifice their right for one man’s reckless ambition who has not even reported back to the people since 2011.

The chairman of ward APC chairmen in Ukanafun, Mr. EtokUfok Sunday Iwok assured the candidate that the people are behind him irrespective of political affiliations. He said that it is an opportunity to express profound concern about the plight of the people of the federal constituency who have suffered neglect to that ensure that justice is done, maintaining that zoning is a is a necessary ingredient for the peaceful co-existence of the people. Chapter executive members, all APC ward exco members, youth & women leaders were at the interaction session.
