Alice Ekpenyong: Group raises alarm

Alice Ekpenyong: Group raises alarm

THE ORO NATION INITIATIVE says it  has uncovered a plot by some persons to blackmail the present chief whip of the Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Alice Ekpenyong.

In a communiqué issued by the group and signed by Tom Efombruh the president, the group said, “Information reaching us, in Oro Nation Youth Initiative, is that these unscrupulous elements after failing to undermine the legislative success of Rt. Hon. Alice Ekpenyong and pin any wrong doing on her person and office, have conceived a malicious plan to attack her family by investing huge resources and funds to commission a syndicate of blackmailers to malign her and lower her person in the esteem of every reasonable person by portraying her in a very compromising position.

In a total abuse of the knowledge of computer imagery and simulation, these workers of darkness have completely lost their sense of decorum to produce a short video clip and still pictures purportedly depicting the honourable lawmaker in several sordid amorous postures with some phantom lover.

As expected, these buffoons, in a bid to sway support for their aspirant, have concluded plans to syndicate this aberration to local print media in the state and post the rest online, believing that the only way to rubbish her is to attack her marriage and family.   We also have on good authority that this ominous plan is not new, but part of a grand vice hatched since 2011, when Rt. Hon. Ekpenyong indicated interest to re-contest the State House of Assembly Seat for Mbo Local Government Area.

As a matter of fact, they initially started by questioning the origin of the lawmaker, who incidentally is from Udung Uko Local Government Area but married in Mbo Local Government Area. That plan failed woefully because the people of Mbo, having benefitted tremendously from her legislative prowess in the first term, insisted that she should represent them again. The perpetrators then hurriedly put together sloppy allegations of extra marital affairs against her which was still birth too”.

The group maintained further that they remain seriously committed to the ambition of Alice Ekpenyong to the House of Representatives. It called on those behind the plot to desist from blackmailing the House of Assembly member as they will ensure that they fish the perpetrators of such act.
