“Prayer is the solution to insecurity in Nigeria” - Venerable John Uzoma

“Prayer is the solution to insecurity in Nigeria” - Venerable John Uzoma
As the Nigerian Army engages the Boko Haram insurgents in some parts of the North for a return of peace in the country, a renowned cleric in Akwa Ibom State, Venerable John Uzoma, Arch Deacon of the Eket Anglican Communion has given prayer as the only solution to insecurity in Nigeria.

Speaking in his office in Eket on Thursday, the Vicar St. Michael and All Angels Church said “whatever we see on earth has a spiritual beginning and the insecurity witnessed today in the form of terrorism which we call Boko Haram, has its roots in the spiritual realm. Only prayers can dislodge the power behind the sect”.

Venerable Uzoma called on Nigerians to set aside their differences and collectively go before the Lord for three days in prayer and see if God will not answer his people who call him by his Name.

He said that even the Nigerian military knows that victory in every battle comes from God and as such if Nigerians will turn away from evil and seek God as the father of all things in creation, He will surely look down and bring to an end the menace of Boko Haram ravaging and threatening the unity of the country.

“From the top to the bottom, Nigerians must change, we must see ourselves as brothers and sisters, we must fight corruption, we must be our brother’s keeper irrespective of our state of origin, then when we come together as one and pray, God will surely answer our prayers”, Uzoma said.

Pastor Uzoma who has been the Media Director of the Anglican Media & Communication Ministry on Radio and Television called on Christians to practice what they preach as there is a great divide between faith and practice in some churches today.

“The church in Nigeria  has a lot of works to do, eternity has to be in view for every child of God, our view of eternity will shape the way we live”, he said.
