Judging by the massive support Senator Helen Esuene is amassing across the State, prelude to P.D.P gubernatorial primary on Saturday November 29, 2014, Akwa Ibom State may soon make history as the first State in Nigeria to produce the first woman elected governor.

The distinguished Senator on Wednesday received massive endorsement from the people of Etinan, Ibesikpo Asutan, Nsit Ibom and Nsit Atai Local Government Areas during a continuation of her State-wide consultation exercise, after having been adopted by the people of Mbo, Udung-UKo, Oron, Esit Eket, Ibeno, Obot Akara and Ikot Ekpene Local Government Areas.

Her visit to the people of Etinan was turned into a carnival as traditional dances and Okada riders welcomed her at Ekpen Ukpa with jubilation, describing her as a woman who has broken the jinks of male domination in politics.

In his welcome speech, the Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Etinan, Hon. Anietie Essiet commanded Esuene for her courage to vie for the Governorship seat in the State, stressing that the courage is born out of the Senator’s mind power, knowledge, experience in governance and patriotism for service to humanity.

“Knowledge is power, I am sure what has given our distinguished Senator the courage to step out into the guber race is the abundance of knowledge and experience she posses, we pray for her to succeed as we give her our total support”, Hon. Essiet said.

The people of Ibesikpo Asutan also rolled out drums in support of the Chairman Senate Committee on women and youths matters and adopted her as their sole candidate for the Hill-Top mansion.
Women and youth groups besieged the resident of General Edet Akpan (Rtd) at Nsit Atai Local Government Area with songs and dances.

Responding, Senator Helen Esuene said she was in the race to consolidate on the achievement of Governor Godswill Akpabio but that she will focus more on human capital development, wealth creation, job opportunities and rural development.

She recounted her experiences in all the tiers of government and how poised she was in turning the State around for a better future through her economic agenda, adding that Akwa Ibom State under her administration will witness rapid industrialization and economic prosperity.

Esuene called on the people to shun violence as peace and unity can only be obtained when politics is not seen as a do or die affair.
