The Peoples Democratic Party – PDP in Eket Urban Ward 4, have unanimously endorsed the member representing Eket State Constituency, Hon. Ayang Akanimoh Ayang, for a second term in office.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of party faithfuls at the ward, the Ward chairman, Mr. Bassey Usoro stated that the chief purpose of the gathering was to assess the State House of Assembly. He averred that for the past three and a half years, Hon. Ayang, apart from his contributions in law making, has put smiles on the faces of his constituents and should be given a chance to continue with his good works in office.
Moving a motion for the endorsement of Hon. Ayang Akanimoh for a second term in office, a prominent member of the party in the ward, Obong Iwaad Edon Ernest Edon averred that in consideration of the effective representation of Hon. Ayang in the State House of Assembly, his sterling performance in the area includes: empowerment programme, construction of two classroom blocks at Government Main School, Afaha Eket, construction of one classroom block at Government Primary School, Afaha Uqua Obok Idim and award of scholarship to over forty students in his constituency.
The motion which was seconded by the woman leader in the ward, Lady Jenny Jacob Eshiet received the unanimous endorsement of over two thousand members present at the meeting.
Speaking further, Obong Edon appealed to other wards in Eket to endorse Hon. Ayang for a second term based on his sterling performance, adding that democracy is a matter of trust, experience and patriotism.
Speaking on behalf of women in the ward, Ms Esther Akpadiaha Odungide appealed to all the women in the ward to support the second term ambition of Hon. Ayang. Also speaking, Prince Afaha and Mr. Akpe Akam commended the party for their vision and appealed to the party to support Hon. Ayang to realize his second term ambition.
Obong Edon hinted that the ward will purchase nomination form for Hon. Ayang and that plans are underway to collect over 50,000 signatures to further boost the second ambition of the House member.
Present at ward meeting were PDP ward executives, ward elders, youth groups and women, among others.
It would be recalled that Hon. Ayang Akanimoh Ayang empowered over 2,000 of his constituents a year ago with various items of wealth creation and poverty alleviation empowerment. He has been noted to be the most effective representative of Eket State Constituency over the years.
