Afigh Iwaad Ekid condemns attack on Helen Esuene

Afigh Iwaad Ekid, an apex socio-cultural  group for the people of Eket Federal Constituency, has condemned in strong terms the unwarranted attack on Senator Helen Esuene who was recently attacked by Essien Udim youths during her governorship consultation to the area.

In a statement issued by the chairman, Care-taker Committee of Afigh Iwaad Ekid, Obong Iwaad Victor Assam, and made available to THE INK the group noted that though Afigh Iwaad Ekid is not a political group, it stands its grounds as one of its constitutional responsibilities to protect the well being of all its aspirants from Eket Federal Constituency, hence the protest.

According to the statement, In as much as the Governorship slot is zoned to the Eket Senatorial District, the group advises that harassing and intimidating aspirants should be resisted in totality, as it equally warn against the act of using irate youths to attack innocent aspirants in their bid to campaign for their political aspirations.


The group further stated that they will not adhere to such further attacks, as other aspirants from other Senatorial Districts/Federal Constituency to run their campaigns without being harassed or intimidated. 

They also called on the political stakeholders of Essien Udim LGA to tender unreserved apology to Sen. Helen  Esuene even as they said they all governorship aspirants be given a level playing ground during consultations as well as Campaigns the state.
